Broad interest
We are looking for a person who combines a business and goal-related style with the drive to promote greater freedom of expression. You know what it is like to do business with other cultures. Your powers of persuasion and international business sense help you convince organisations and businesses to work with RNW. You are a structured, ambitious, creative and goal-oriented pioneer.
Experience/skills required:
- University-educated or equivalent;
- At least five years of commercial experience in the media or business services;
- Excellent command of English, preferably a native speaker;
- Good knowledge of one of the regional desk languages is an advantage;
- Demonstrable international sales track record;
- Accustomed to working independently
Posting
You will work at the RNW office in Hilversum. In addition, you will spend approximately six weeks a year travelling abroad.

Application process
The application process will involve several interviews. The first of these will take place at AV in Amersfoort. The following interviews will take place at RNW in Hilversum. RNW journalists work for four different regional desks (Africa, Latin America, China and the Arab world) as well as the Themes and Projects Department. Depending on the region, they work in English, French, Spanish, Chinese or Arabic.
The Themes and Projects Department deals with the main themes in RNW’s mission: human rights, sexual rights, democracy and good governance. The department sometimes works across regional lines and, like the regional desks, produces content for RNW’s target audience: young people between 15 and 30 years of age.
Within these themes, RNW develops and produces strong, appealing journalistic formats which fit in with local information needs and possibilities. We do this together with local partners and with the support of (local) sponsors. To strengthen this activity, RNW is looking for an International Business Developer.
